Law360, New York (November 21, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- A widely backed bill that would boost funding to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, ban products that contain lead and take other steps to strengthen safety measures has cleared its first hurdle in the House of Representatives.
The Consumer Product Safety Modernization Act, sponsored by a bipartisan group of 46 lawmakers, passed the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection on Nov. 15 and moved on to the full committee.
