Law360, New York (November 24, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Despite a permanent ban that will soon go into effect, many stores may continue to sell plastic toys containing phthalates, the chemical that has been linked to defects in reproductive organs in children.
U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission General Counsel Cheryl Falvey said in a letter written on Nov. 17 that toys containing phthalates that were manufactured before the cutoff date of Feb. 10, when the law takes effect, may still be sold in stores.
