Compliance Woes Under CPSIA

Law360, New York (February 10, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Despite months of opposition and mounting activism from businesses both large and small, the most daunting requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act regarding limits on lead and phthalates have now taken effect as required by statute.

And the news for business is even worse than before. Following a recent decision by a federal court judge, the limits for both lead and phthalates will be applied retroactively, affecting newly manufactured products and existing inventories.
