Law360, New York (March 06, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- In response to a series of foodborne illness scares, two U.S. lawmakers have unveiled a bill that would for the first time give the U.S. Food and Drug Administration the authority to recall contaminated food.
Reps. Adam Putnam, R-Fla., and Jim Costa, D-Calif., introduced the legislation Thursday, which also seeks to implement new safety rules for domestically produced and imported food to identify and prevent potential sources of foodborne illness.
