Toyota Recalls 39,000 Highlander Exhaust Clamps

Law360, New York (April 27, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. has issued a voluntary safety recall of 39,100 optional exhaust clamp accessories sold for Highlander sport utility vehicles because of a manufacturing defect that can cause the exhaust tips to fall off.

Toyota announced the recall Friday with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, urging customers to contact their local dealerships for repairs and inspections.

The equipment in question, the Toyota Stainless Steel Exhaust Tip Retention Clamps, was designed for use with 2008 model year Toyota Highlander and Highlander HV vehicles....
