TransCanada Goes Solar With $456M Power Plants Buy

Law360, New York (December 20, 2011, 3:20 PM ET) -- Energy infrastructure heavyweight TransCanada Corp. is entering into solar generation with the acquisition of nine solar power plants from Canadian Solar Inc. for CA$470 million (US$456 million), the companies announced Tuesday.

Under the purchase agreement, Canadian Solar’s subsidiary Canadian Solar Solutions Inc. will build nine utility-scale plants for TransCanada, giving the energy infrastructure giant a solar power portfolio with a combined capacity of 86 megawatts.
