Enviros Challenge Corps' $650M Ga. Harbor Project

Law360, New York (February 03, 2012, 6:46 PM ET) -- Conservation groups in South Carolina and Georgia hit the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with a suit Friday seeking to block a $650 million project to deepen part of the Savannah River on claims that the Corps flouted state environmental law.

The Savannah Riverkeeper, the Coastal Conservation League and the South Carolina Wildlife Federation alleged in South Carolina court that the Corps hasn’t sought a permit to discharge cadmium and other contaminants expected as byproducts of the its work.
