Law360, New York (March 20, 2012, 3:54 PM ET) -- Secretary of Energy Steven Chu defended his agency Tuesday against allegations from the top congressional oversight panel that the U.S. Department of Energy’s loan programs were plagued by mismanagement and corruption, saying the programs were aggressively monitored and deserved renewal.
In a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing, Chu rejected claims from the chair, Darrell Issa, R-Calif., and other Republicans that the DOE’s clean-energy loan programs and its home weatherization assistance program suffered from extensive fraud and abuse.
