Qatar To Invest $250M In Barclays PE Energy Plays

Law360, New York (April 30, 2012, 4:32 PM ET) -- Qatar will sink $250 million into a Barclays PLC private equity outfit targeting oil and gas, mining, and power investment opportunities, the parties announced Monday.

Qatar Asset Management Co. will back Barclays Natural Resource Investments, whose $2.1 billion portfolio is invested in 22 upstream oil and gas, mining, power, and renewable-energy companies. QAMC is a partnership between the country's sovereign wealth fund and the Qatar Financial Center, the regulatory body tasked with spinning Qatar's vast energy riches into the basis for a sophisticated financial sector....
