FERC Sinks $9.5B Western Hydropower Pipeline Plan

Law360, Los Angeles (May 17, 2012, 8:22 PM ET) -- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Thursday affirmed the dismissal of a plan to build a $9.5 billion pipeline to pump water from Wyoming into Colorado to power hydropower plants, saying a project application was premature.

FERC refused Wyco Power and Water Inc.'s bid to secure a 36-month preliminary permit, saying the company had failed to provide “any substantial information” regarding the proposed pipeline and hadn't sufficiently narrowed down where the pipeline might be located.
