Ore. Light Rail Project Scores $85M From DOT

Law360, New York (May 18, 2012, 2:24 PM ET) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $85 million for a Portland, Ore., light-rail project, part of the federal government's commitment to funding half of the $1.4 billion project, lawmakers announced Thursday.

The 7.3-mile Portland-Milwaukie project would extend the city’s existing Yellow Line from downtown Portland, through the city’s southeast, and to the city of Milwaukie. Service is expected to begin on the new line in 2015.
