Law360, New York (November 17, 2009, 1:15 PM ET) -- Ten state attorneys general have thrown their support behind a bill authored by Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., that would end a decades-old antitrust exemption for health and medical malpractice insurers.
In a letter Friday to Leahy, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Sen. Jeff Sessions, R.-Ill., the committee's ranking member, the attorneys general of Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, Oregon, Arizona, Iowa, Montana, Florida and Wyoming said that Congress should repeal the exemption to encourage competition.
