Law360, New York (April 06, 2010, 2:07 PM ET) -- Brazil and the U.S. have reached an agreement that will postpone tariffs the South American nation plans to impose on scores of American products as the two countries move toward resolving their trade dispute over U.S. cotton subsidies, officials said Tuesday.
The preliminary deal comes on the eve of a 30-day deadline Brazil set to levy countermeasures on more than $800 million worth of U.S. exports of cotton, cars and fruit. It will also delay planned penalties on intellectual property rights.
