Law360, New York (April 30, 2010, 7:33 PM ET) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued new proposals that would cut emissions of mercury and other pollutants from boilers, process heaters and solid waste incinerators, arguing the new rules could save five dollars in public health benefits for each dollar spent implementing them.
Combined, the three new rules proposed Thursday will cut overall annual mercury emissions by more than 50 percent, yielding health benefits of between $18 billion and $44 billion annually, according to the agency.
