Law360, New York (January 25, 2011, 3:45 PM ET) -- A committee of the New York State Assembly on Tuesday passed a bill that would ban the sale of electronic cigarettes in the state without further action by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
New York would be the first state in the country to ban the battery-powered devices that vaporize nicotine and other chemicals for inhalation.
The bill approved by the Assembly Health Committee would also permanently bar so-called e-cigarettes from being sold to minors.
