EU Lawmakers Tentatively Back India, Japan FTAs

Law360, New York (May 11, 2011, 6:18 PM ET) -- European Union lawmakers on Wednesday called for a free trade deal with India by the end of the year, but warned Japan must agree to ease some restrictions before the bloc launches official free trade negotiations with that country.

By a show of hands, the EU Parliament passed a resolution conditionally supporting a a free trade agreement with Japan, but expressed reservations about the country's current trade barriers.
