Law360, New York (September 21, 2011, 4:50 PM ET) -- A U.S. House of Representatives committee on Wednesday unanimously approved a bill to update safety regulations for the country’s network of oil and gas pipelines, responding to a spate of pipeline accidents over the past year.
The House Energy and Commerce Committee voted 51-0 in favor of the Pipeline Infrastructure and Community Protection Act, or H.R. 2937, which would revise existing law to expand pipeline management programs, tighten safety standards and mandate the use of certain safety technology, among other measures.
