HHS Pushes Back Deadline For Switch To New Coding System

Law360, New York (April 09, 2012, 5:43 PM ET) -- Health care providers should have another year to switch their billing systems to the updated ICD-10 coding system, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said Monday, proposing to delay a switch many doctors have decried as too burdensome.

Doctors, hospitals and others would have until Oct. 1, 2014 to make the switch under a proposed rule released Monday by HHS.
