Neb. Passes Bill To Resume Keystone Pipeline Review

Law360, New York (April 11, 2012, 5:36 PM ET) -- The Nebraska Legislature passed a bill Wednesday letting the state's governor evaluate a new route for TransCanada Corp.'s Keystone XL fuel pipeline, in an effort to resolve environmental concerns contributing to President Barack Obama's January rejection of TransCanada's application to build across the Canadian border.

The bill, which passed 44-5 in Nebraska's single-house legislature, will take effect immediately. It allows the governor to choose whether to approve pipeline applications himself or refer them to the Nebraska Public Service Commission, which had authority to review applications under...
