Joint Panel To Review Stalled Calif. Mortgage Bills

Law360, San Diego (April 19, 2012, 10:48 PM ET) -- After mortgage overhaul bills sponsored by California Attorney General Kamala Harris were pulled from finance panel hearings this week amid uncertainty over whether they would garner enough support, the measures are being ushered to a conference committee for review, a source told Law360 on Thursday.

Monday hearings at the Assembly Banking and Finance Committee for A.B. 1602, which would bar banks from foreclosing on a mortgage if the homeowner has a pending loan modification application, and A.B. 2425, which would create a private right of action...
