Bill To Prevent Bias Against Jobless Gets Conn. Senate's OK

Law360, New York (May 02, 2012, 7:16 PM ET) -- The Connecticut Senate on Tuesday passed a bill that would make it illegal for employers to discriminate against unemployed job seekers in advertisements, joining a growing number of states to consider measures banning bias against the jobless.

The state Senate approved Senate Bill 79 by a 30-5 vote, which prohibits businesses, labor organizations and employment agencies from advertising job opportunities in a way that excludes the unemployed from applying, unless there is a bona fide occupational qualification or need.
