Law360, New York (May 02, 2012, 7:57 PM ET) -- The American Academy of Family Physicians on Monday objected to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's proposal to make more drugs available without prescriptions, saying it could compromise doctors' ability to coordinate patients' care.
In a letter addressed to FDA Commissioner Dr. Margaret Hamburg, the AAFP protested the FDA's proposal, announced in February, to make certain “safe-use” prescription drugs available over the counter as a way to combat the undertreatment of many common diseases.
