Law360, New York (May 04, 2012, 7:24 PM ET) -- Lay people in New Jersey using automated external defibrillators and the organizations that provide the devices will be shielded from civil liability under a bill that Gov. Chris Christie signed into law Thursday.
Proponents say the measure removes possible legal deterrents for those who may try to save someone's life in the crucial moments following a sudden cardiac arrest and takes into account technological advancements that make modern AEDs virtually foolproof.
