SBA Floats Regs To Shield Small Biz From Contract Bundling

Law360, New York (May 16, 2012, 4:37 PM ET) -- The U.S. Small Business Administration proposed a rule Wednesday aimed at increasing small business participation in procurements that bundle multiple contracts and contractors together, by giving agencies more flexibility to set aside work under such contracts for particular businesses.

The federal government has increasingly used multiple award contracts and consolidated acquisitions to reduce the administrative costs of contracting and save money by pooling agencies' buying power, but such efforts tend to favor larger contractors, the SBA said.
