NJ Lawmaker Decries 'Political Attack' On Judiciary

Law360, New York (May 17, 2012, 7:52 PM ET) -- New Jersey's judiciary is under an unprecedented political attack that threatens the independence of the court system and must be stopped, state Senate President Stephen Sweeney told a roomful of attorneys Thursday.

Sweeney, D-Gloucester, said Gov. Chris Christie's attempts to achieve political balance in the courts by denying reappointment to sitting Democratic judges cannot stand.

“That's not how it works. You need a court that's not going to rule how you want it to rule. You need a court that's going to be independent,” Sweeney said...
