Law360, New York (May 24, 2012, 6:39 PM ET) -- The U.S. Senate on Thursday passed a 60-day stopgap extension of the National Flood Insurance Program, which was set to expire next week.
The vote came after several aborted attempts to get a longer extension passed in the Senate. The U.S. House of Representatives still must adopt the Senate extension.
Tom Santos, vice president for federal affairs at the American Insurance Association cheered the Senate vote but urged a long-term reauthorization.
