Law360, New York (June 27, 2012, 10:51 PM ET) -- Washington dealmakers on Wednesday reached a sweeping tentative transportation deal to extend highway transportation funding to 2014 in a move that congressional lawmakers called “unprecedented,” just days before Saturday's deadline when the funding was set to expire.
The bipartisan compromise, which was reached in both congressional chambers, sets up federal highway, transit and highway safety policy and would not increase taxes, according to a statement by House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee chairman Rep. John Mica, R-Fla.
