Law360, New York (July 18, 2012, 4:30 PM ET) -- The Dominican Republic on Wednesday brought a request for consultations at the World Trade Organization over Australia’s laws and regulations that impose trademark restrictions and other plain packaging requirements on tobacco products.
The challenge targets the Tobacco Plain Packaging Act of 2011, a law passed by the Australian Senate in November. Several other countries also have asked to join the consultations, according to the WTO.
