Law360, New York (August 29, 2012, 8:33 PM ET) -- An employer lobbying group has asked the White House to ensure that employers are not required to offer health insurance coverage to employees' dependents in order to avoid a penalty under the health care law, it said Tuesday.
The ERISA Industry Committee, which represents large companies' health and retirement plans, argued that it wouldn't be fair to require employers to cover dependents. ERISA stands for Employee Retirement Income Security Act, the law that sets federal standards for private pension plans.
