Law360, New York (September 10, 2012, 4:07 PM ET) -- The European Commission's top official in charge of digital strategy on Monday said the European Union's copyright laws are in dire need of reform in order to keep up with rapidly progressing technological changes.
Neelie Kroes, the vice president of the EC responsible for the digital agenda, said in a speech to The Lisbon Council for Economic Competitiveness and Social Renewal that the EU’s current copyright rules are far too fragmented, which hurts European businesses and consumers as well as the creative sector.
