GMO-Labeling War Wages On, Now With Congress Weighing In

Law360, New York (April 30, 2014, 5:11 PM EDT) -- Assuming Gov. Peter Shumlin makes good on his public statements, Vermont will soon become the first state to legislatively require food makers to label products made with genetically modified organisms, or GMOs. Two other states, Connecticut and Maine, have similar laws already on the books, which will be enacted if a specified number of other states do the same. According to the Center for Food Safety, there are currently 62 active GMO-labeling bills in legislation in 23 states. For those involved in the anti-GMO/pro-GMO-labeling movement, states believe the momentum is building for GMO-labeling bills to become an unstoppable force....
