Law360, New York (July 05, 2012, 2:24 PM ET) -- A Massachusetts federal judge on Tuesday tossed a suit seeking to block the city of Springfield from implementing anti-foreclosure ordinances that a group of banks had called unconstitutional, finding they do not violate any state or federal laws.
U.S. District Judge Michael A. Ponsor ruled that two ordinances requiring mediation before foreclosure of residential properties and maintenance of said properties by the mortgagee are not preempted by state foreclosure regulations.
“An examination of the ordinances reveals no conflict, let alone a 'sharp' one,” Judge Ponsor wrote....
