Concerns Prompt Fla. Lawmaker To Pause Land Swap Bill

Law360, Miami (April 08, 2013, 7:19 PM ET) -- In light of numerous questions and concerns, Florida state Rep. Jimmie T. Smith, R-Lecanto, sought Monday to temporarily postpone his controversial bill that would allow private landowners to acquire title to state-owned land in exchange for conservation easements on their own property.

The House Agriculture & Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee supported the postponement motion on H.B. 33 from Smith, with committee Chair Ben Albritton, R-Wauchula, calling it an honorable decision.
