Law360, New York (March 30, 2010, 7:02 PM ET) -- Accused Ponzi schemer Robert Allen Stanford has asked the court to let him change lawyers, a switch his current counsel attributes to money issues and a personality clash.
Stanford's attorneys filed a motion Tuesday to substitute Michael M. Essmyer of Essmyer Tritico & Rainey LLP as lead counsel in the criminal case against him, currently before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Stanford also asked that Bob Bennett of Bennett Nguyen Joint Venture be allowed to represent him.
