Alleged Ponzi Artist Who Can't Pay Atty Not Off Hook: US

Law360, New York (August 30, 2010, 3:20 PM ET) -- Federal prosecutors have asked a judge to deny a bid by an attorney for Edward May, who stands accused of running a $200 million Ponzi scheme, to drop the case because May can't pay his legal bills.

The U.S. attorney's office urged the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan to deny a motion by Harold Gurewitz of Gurewitz & Raben PLC to withdraw as May's counsel, arguing that replacing May's defense team would unduly delay the trial.
