NY AG's Office Beefs Up Fraud-Fighting Units

Law360, New York (January 27, 2011, 6:09 PM ET) -- Already armed with broader authority than most state attorneys general, New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman on Thursday bulked up his office's ability to pursue tax cheats, corrupt contractors, public officials and Medicaid fraudsters.

Schneiderman announced the creation of a new taxpayer fraud unit that will go after corrupt contractors, pension con-artists and large-scale tax cheats who rip off New York state government and its taxpayers and added dozens of additional prosecutors, investigators and auditors to the state's existing Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
