Ex-Oil Co. Exec Gets 5 Years For $13.4 Investor Fraud

Law360, New York (July 01, 2011, 3:52 PM ET) -- Christopher Cello Smith, the brother of the ringleader of the $13.4 million Target Oil & Gas Corp. investor fraud, was sentenced to a five-year prison term Thursday by a Kentucky federal judge.

U.S. District Judge Joseph Hood handed down the penalty a day after he sentenced Smith's brother, former Target Oil President Michael D. Smith, to 10 years in prison. The judge deferred setting a restitution figure for 90 days for Smith but imposed a $3 million money judgment for forfeiture.
