Eye On Japan's Financial Reform Efforts

Law360, New York (February 22, 2012, 3:14 PM ET) -- In December of last year, the Japanese Ministry of Justice published proposed changes to the Corporations Law for comment. The proposal immediately attracted the attention of those foreign investment companies and organizations that are interested in the corporate governance of Japanese publicly traded companies. The proposed changes were published in Japanese, including more than 100 pages of dense technical language with very little explanation or policy statements to explain the intended effects of the changes or how they would work in application.
