Senate Asks For Payment Records In Pequot Probe

Law360, New York (December 12, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Senate leaders reportedly have asked the chairman of Pequot Capital Management Inc. for records related to alleged payments made to a key witness in a controversial insider-trading probe.

Top Republicans on the Senate Finance and Judiciary committees have asked Pequot CEO and Chairman Arthur J. Samberg for documentation related to $2.1 million in payments to a witness in the case, according to a report Friday in the Washington Post.

The newspaper reported that the FBI is looking into the matter.
