Sharp Returns Fire In Samsung LCD Patent Battle

Law360, New York (January 11, 2010, 3:36 PM ET) -- Sharp Corp. has asked the U.S. International Trade Commission to investigate whether rival Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. is infringing five patents used in liquid crystal display technology, the latest salvo in the ongoing battle between the two electronics giants.

In a complaint filed Friday, Sharp asked the ITC to open an investigation into whether Samsung violated Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 by importing televisions, computer monitors and professional LCD panels infringing U.S. Patent Numbers 7,379,140; 6,141,075; 7,283,192; 5,670,994; and 7,408,588.
