Law360, New York (October 10, 2003, 12:00 AM ET) -- Thailand will ban out-of-court settlements between accused copyright infringers and foreign companies, in an effort to curb threats and extortion, the Bangkok Post reported.
Government officials claim local individuals and companies have been threatened and intimidated into making "negotiated" payments to avoid litigation by foreign agencies.
Previous governments have unsucessfully tried to outlaw negotiated settlements....
