Law360, New York (August 02, 2011, 6:52 PM ET) -- Research In Motion Ltd. on Tuesday became the latest defendant to settle a Texas suit that SmartPhone Technologies LLC filed accusing about a dozen major cellphone manufacturers of infringing several communications and Bluetooth patents.
RIM and SmartPhone lodged a joint motion to dismiss their claims and counterclaims after reaching a settlement agreement. Each party will bear their own court costs and attorneys’ fees.
Further details of the deal were not released, and attorneys for both parties were not immediately available for comment Tuesday.
