Law360, New York (February 28, 2012, 2:51 PM ET) -- Yahoo Inc. warned Tuesday that social networking behemoth Facebook Inc. either had to license Yahoo patents related to things like social networking and advertising or face the consequences, citing a need to protect its intellectual property.
Yahoo's demand comes less than a month after Facebook filed for a $5 billion initial public offering and less than two months after Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Yahoo announced that Scott Thompson, formerly the president of eBay Inc.'s PayPal division, would take over as CEO.
