Law360, New York (March 19, 2012, 5:21 PM ET) -- A group of Chinese writers has reportedly sued Apple Inc. in a Beijing court seeking almost $8 million in compensation for pirated copies of their books available in Apple's App Store, Chinese state-run media reported Monday.
The suit was filed on behalf of 22 writers over some 95 iPad- and iPhone-compatible books allegedly offered without permission through the App Store either for sale or as free downloads, according to The People's Daily. The newspaper reported that China's National Copyright Administration is investigating the matter.
