Memory Card IP Antitrust Suit Timely, Samsung Tells 9th Circ.

Law360, New York (May 07, 2012, 4:52 PM ET) -- Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. tried Friday to revive a suit alleging Panasonic Corp. restrained competition through a patent-licensing deal on secure digital memory cards, arguing to the Ninth Circuit that its antitrust claims were not past due.

Samsung's appeal brief asked the court to reinstate its claims that Panasonic attempted to use a 2003 patent licensing agreement to control the market for SD memory cards, commonly used in digital cameras and other portable electronics, and told the Ninth Circuit that a lower court judge mistakenly dismissed...
