Law360, New York (May 16, 2012, 7:48 PM ET) -- A California federal judge on Wednesday refused to dismiss claims against Electronic Arts Inc. in antitrust multidistrict litigation that accuses it of conspiring to deprive former college athletes of compensation for the use of their likenesses in video games.
U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken denied EA’s motion for judgment, ruling that although the company’s licensing agreements with Collegiate Licensing Co. do not expressly prohibit payments to former college players, that fact alone does not defeat the athletes’ antitrust conspiracy claims.
