ArrivalStar Targets Garmin Over Vehicle-Tracking Patents

Law360, New York (July 9, 2012, 7:23 PM ET) -- In an ongoing campaign to protect their tracking and logistics system patents, ArrivalStar SA and Melvino Technologies Ltd. sued Garmin International Inc. in Illinois federal court Friday, alleging the GPS manufacturer infringed patents covering a vehicle proximity notification system.
ArrivalStar and Melvino allege that Garmin’s GTU 10 asset tracking system infringes on five patents held by ArrivalStar that protect an advanced notification system for checking the status and proximity of vehicles.
