Charter Subscriber Drops Cable Box Forced-Rental Claims

Law360, New York (September 07, 2012, 4:24 PM ET) -- A Charter Communications Inc. cable subscriber on Thursday dropped his proposed nationwide class action accusing the service provider of violating the Sherman Act by forcing customers to rent cable set-top boxes as a condition of receiving premium cable service.

Though Gerald Paul Bodet Jr. offered little explanation in his motion for voluntary dismissal, it came just one day after Charter's attorneys alerted the presiding Louisiana federal judge of the Tenth Circuit's decision last month not to hear Gelder v. Cox Communications.
