Blizzard Wants Data Breach Suit Tossed Over Lack Of Harm

Law360, Los Angeles (July 1, 2013, 8:27 PM ET) -- Blizzard Entertainment Inc. urged a California federal judge Monday to dismiss a multimillion dollar class action over a massive data breach that compromised user information for players of Worlds of Warcraft and other video games, arguing that the plaintiffs failed to allege actual harm.

At a hearing, Mark S. Melodia, a lawyer representing Blizzard, argued that the August 2012 data breach, while “incredibly disturbing,” was “one single event,” not a pattern.
