DataTern Cuts SunTrust From Database Patent Suit

Law360, New York (March 22, 2010, 2:03 PM ET) -- DataTern Inc. has dropped SunTrust Banks Inc. from a patent infringement suit over database technology, following counterclaims brought by BP America Inc. and Halliburton Co. that the asserted patent is invalid.

Judge T. John Ward of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas dismissed SunTrust on Friday without prejudice, a day after the plaintiff told the court that the bank had filed neither an answer nor a motion for summary judgment.
